Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a return to the glory days of the franchise. What CoD got right during the glory days are brought back in this game to reign in a customer market that is angry with CoD’s recent titles.
CoD had a very obvious preference towards in-game purchases. CoD was doing well despite disastrous reviews and a very controversial history soon after Black Ops 2 on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC was released.
EA is the Publisher and hired Infinity Ward to develop Ghosts. Ghosts ended up suffering from horrible reviews and poor press coverage.
EA switched developers twice and tried Treyarch who developed the Black Ops series but still failed to move the series in the right direction. This is even after Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare.
EA also took more shots at success with Activision and released Infinite Warfare to some of the most negative press coverage I’ve seen in gaming history.
This version so far is successful at sticking to the base that loves it while still appealing to the older generation that made it famous.
It’s not perfect but it’s a good step in the right direction and EA and Infinity Ward should be proud they’ve salvaged the game from the depths of the abyss that Infinite Warfare created. I almost thought CoD was dead after Infinite Warfare and I’m happy to report it’s better than ever.
